Born in Sheepshead Bay, New York, Alan’s passion has been in the visual arts since his early childhood. Fascinated by shapes, colors, and textures he began collecting intriguing and unique found objects each having a story and a personal history.
These objects later became important in the assemblages
he created and inspiration for his multitude of other works of art. Alan was formally trained at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and the University of Maryland majoring in Fine Arts at the College Park Campus.
Alan’s art has morphed over the decades producing both
2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works. His newest paintings are created by mixing, melding and layering of media with his methodology and masterful skillset. He’s produced textural, color dynamic paintings that often suggest organic shapes, figural forms, amorphous areas evocative of deep space or views into a microscope. His use of polymers, polyurethanes, enamels, oil paints, metallics, and acrylics have the spectator inspired to take a close look and ask, ”How did he do that?”.
